MyCollegeMoneyPlan.org is the result of work done by the Financial Literacy Project at Wichita State University, Wichita, Kansas. This project was originally funded by a federal College Access Challenge Grant through the Kansas Board of Regents. Current funding is now provided by the Office of Student Success. Custom software for the website was provided by VanDeCreek Consulting in Wichita.
The website is designed to first assist students of any age who are seeking enrollment in community college, technical scholl, colleges or university in selecting post-secondary education that not only meets their academic and career goals but also focus on what the student and family can reasonably afford. It contains worksheets and guidance to help build a multi-year financial plan. There are modules that explain terminology used by school staff and modules to assest in gaining financial aid. Secondly, the course offers basic personal financial management education to equip the first-year college student with information and skills needed to attain life-long financial independence.
